DE about us, in the words of designer Kornelia Rataj
My adventure with fashion began very early. From an early age, I watched my mother sewing clothes on her home sewing machine. I have pursued my passion for creating clothes, which was rooted in my childhood, throughout my entire life. In 2017, I graduated from an international school of costume and fashion design, majoring in fashion design.
While still studying in 2016, I fulfilled my biggest dream – I started my own company called korneliarataj. The brand was born out of my lifelong dreams of creating, out of a tremendous desire to create beauty for women, reflecting my sense of form, style and aesthetics.
And so, in a 10 m² room in my parents' flat, the first products of our brand were created, sewn entirely by my mother.
In 2018, we moved the studio to a 40m² space, which housed our warehouse. That is where I designed and created the prototypes, while our collections were produced in a friendly external sewing workshop in Legnica.
In 2023, we moved the studio to a rural paradise in Czernica near Jelenia Góra, which we had discovered a few years earlier, fulfilling the dream of my closest family, who have been an integral part of the brand from the very beginning. After extensive renovation of an old barn, we began working in a nearly 300 m² studio and, as a result, opened our own sewing workshop.
From mid-2023, all products from the swimwear and linen collections will be manufactured in our family workshop in Czerny.
The new space, which is a dream come true, has given us the opportunity to expand our small team. We have met some truly wonderful people along the way, for which I am immensely grateful every day.
I thank them for their commitment to our development, to our daily work, to new projects. Each of them is currently an integral part of what you can see, order, touch and use. This product, this quality, is the result of the passion and love we put into our work at every stage.
